About

Scott K Good

Scott has always had a gift for explaining things in ways people understand, and an even greater love of telling stories. After a successful career in higher education and HR, he married the love of his life, sold his house, and took a sabbatical to figure out what came next. Again and again, he was drawn back to the same truth: he loves bringing people together. To make them feel welcome, seen, and heard.

One day, Scott sat down and outlined a novel called The Tartan Thesis to create a story that is rarely told, a gay love story. The next day, he wrote two chapters. Forty-two days later, the first draft was finished. His debut novel will be published in Summer 2026.

Scott writes every day, hoping his characters and their journeys invite readers into a world that feels safe, engaging, and deeply human. A place where they can linger and belong.

He lives in Houston, Texas with his husband and their three dogs. He has degrees that don’t matter nearly as much as he was promised and student loans that insist otherwise, so please, for the love of all that is gay in this world, buy his books.

The Tartan Thesis

Two academic rivals.

One forced partnership.

Zero chance of keeping it professional.

After a disastrous first meeting off campus, Beau, a charming fish-out-of-water Texan, and Torin, a guarded, razor-smart Scotsman, discover they’re pursuing their PhDs in the same Scottish History program. Their clashing personalities and growing insecurities turn every seminar into a battlefield… until the department chair provides an ultimatum: work together or get out.

Forced into a shaky alliance, they vow to call a ceasefire and actually learn from one another. Their time together builds trust, friendship blurs into something warmer, and the walls they’ve kept so carefully intact begin to crumble.

With their academic futures at stake and romantic missteps haunting them at every turn, Torin and Beau face the hardest question of all: Can they build a future together, or will history keep them apart?

For readers who enjoy enemies-to-lovers, romantic comedies, Scottish history, international romance, or gay love stories, this book is impossible to put down.
